Hedo Turkogu was suspended today after violating the league’s drug policy. He will sit out TWENTY! games after testing positive for methenolone. Most people aren’t familiar with methenolone and no, it isn’t something Walter White cooked up in an RV.
Methenelone (according to ThinkSteroids.com) is a beginner’s steroid, so that’s good news. He says that the drug was used as a pain-killer while he was back home in Turkey this summer and that he did not know it was a banned substance. I’d like to see a highlight reel of all the amazing things he has done this season on this “performance-enhancing” drug.
The Magic’s stock doesn’t exactly plummet after news like this. Turkoglu has not been of much use to the Magic this year, despite earning almost $12 million this year. They have obviously been struggling mightily anyway and this does not derail any playoff hopes, because there are none. Rookie Maurice Harkless has shown some promise as Turkoglu’s replacement small forward this year and could be a really great building block for the Magic moving forward.
In other insane news today, Kentucky’s stud center Nerlens Noel had a freak knee injury during a game against Florida. Noel was ranked as the number one prospect by many analysts this year. It is an extremely sad thing and obviously we all hope that he recovers quickly. However, it will certainly affect his draft stock this summer. The Orlando Magic currently have the second worst record in the league and are losing by more than 20 to the Hawks as I write this.
